Last weekend, Thorny Guy and I planted the first cold weather crops. Right before the rain, the timing of it all could not have been better. So into the garden went snow peas, sugar snap peas, Lincoln shelling peas, radishes, lettuce, rutabaga, potatoes, leeks, and bunching onions.
We also worked on the paths of the garden. Here we covered the tractor path with cardboard left over from moving and on top of that went 2-4 inches of decomposing leaves from the fall. It is amazing how many leaves this place produces. With the rain, it should be heavy enough to hold it all down. Anything that makes weeding less of a chore is worth it in my opinion. This is what it looked like when it was done.
In other news, the garlic all came back after winter and looks to be doing great. We also transplanted the peppers into bigger pots, and they are growing nicely.
